Well-Attended Community Turnout at Bexhill Reform UK Monthly Drop In

On Saturday 10th January, the Bexhill and Battle Branch of Reform UK held our first monthly community drop-in at Bexhill Senior Citizens Club near the De La Warr Pavilion. It was a relaxed afternoon with tea, coffee, biscuits and open conversation. We were really pleased with the steady flow of people coming in to chat with us.

We welcomed a real mix of attendees – members, supporters, first-time visitors and a few people who simply popped in while passing by. The atmosphere was friendly with plenty of open and honest conversation taking place around the room.

A lot of the discussion focused on local issues in Bexhill, particularly concerns about crime, parking and how the town centre is feeling neglected. Several people shared personal experience, and it was clear many feel frustrated and unheard. We listened carefully and talked through how these concerns can be raised at town and district council level.

National politics also came up frequently. Over cups of tea, many people spoke about their disappointment with the current Labour government and a feeling of being disconnected from decision-makers, especially on public safety, the cost of living and the direction of the country. There was strong interest in Reform UK’s policies and a sense of hope that things can be done differently.

The best part of the afternoon was how informal it all felt. This wasn’t a meeting or a rally – just conversations, questions, and a chance for people to speak openly. As organisers, we came away with useful ideas and a better understanding of what matters most to local residents.

By the end of the afternoon, it felt clear that these drop-ins are becoming an important way to stay connected with the community. Thank you to everyone who came along or helped make it happen. We are looking forward to the next one.

Our drop-ins take place on the second Saturday of each month, from 2pm to 4:30pm at the Bexhill Senior Citizens Club. Everyone is welcome.
