East Sussex County Council Faces £55.8m Deficit for 2026/27
East Sussex residents finally had their say on 7th May after Reform UK successfully challenged attempts to delay the elections. The vote came as East Sussex County Council faces a projected £55.8 million deficit, with rising pressure from adult social care, children’s services, deprivation, and the county’s ageing population placing growing strain on local finances. Reform UK says years of financial mismanagement have left residents paying more while core services continue to deteriorate.
