Our Plan for Sussex

After 14 years of the same leadership, East Sussex County Council is facing a financial crisis while residents simply want to see the basics delivered properly. Read how Reform UK forced the Government to restore this election in East Sussex.

Following our candidates announcement, our plan for East Sussex sets out clear proposals focused on the issues that matter to residents across Sussex. Our aim is simple: practical policies, transparent priorities, and a clear direction for the future.

Fix The Finances
£70 million borrowed. £211 million in total debt. £70 million borrowed this year just to cover running costs – not build anything new. Total debt now stands at £211 million. For fourteen years, the same party ran both the council and the government. They had every opportunity to fix social care funding. They chose not to. Residents deserve better.

Fix The Roads
East Sussex pays the second highest level of pothole compensation in England and Wales. Potholes are getting worse. Our roads are in a shocking state – patch after patch after patch, because temporary repairs are
always cheaper than doing the job properly. Every botched repair fails within months, the pothole returns and the cycle starts again. Meanwhile the Council pays out hundreds of thousands in compensation to drivers. Road repairs done properly, once, must be a top priority.

Fix The Council
Our area deserves better. Roads in a poor state, excessive housing being built, including on our countryside, and all without the schools, an adequate water supply, GP capacity or transport links that residents, many entirely car dependent, need to get on with their daily lives. Under-performing schools letting our children down and a council that wastes money on mismanaged projects like the Queensway Link Road while residents wait for basics. East Sussex needs practical leadership focused on everyday needs, value for money, and results. It is time for a fresh start.

Our Campaign
We believe local people deserve to know exactly what we stand for and what we will deliver. That is why are laying out our plan in our leaflets and on our website, along with information about how East Sussex has got into the state it is. Together, giving voters the opportunity to read these, before casting their vote.

Get Involved
There are many ways to get involved, whether you can spare a little time or get fully involved, every volunteer strengthens our campaign and helps us get our message out.
