The cost of living is rising. Bills and taxes are surging. It feels that no one in power is listening. Reform UK has shown things can be done differently. My name is Robert Jenrick MP. I am the Reform UK Shadow Chancellor, overseeing our plans to fix Britain’s finances and economy.
Let’s start with council tax. Under the Conservatives or Labour, your council tax has risen year after year, yet local services haven’t improved. Rubbish collection is worse. Potholes are everywhere. Why? Because your money has been wasted on things that don’t benefit your community.
The Conservatives and Labour are so afraid to face the voters that they tried to cancel many of the 7th May 2026 council elections altogether. Reform UK fought for your right to vote. I am proud Reform UK took the Government to court and won.
One year on, we have delivered
Last May, Reform UK won control of councils with one clear promise: to fight for every pound of taxpayers’ money. Our nine majority Reform-controlled councils have saved more than £700 million. Not by cutting frontline services, but by cutting waste, scrapping bad contracts and ensuring people taxes are spent on their community.
While Labour and Conservative councils have continued to raise council tax higher and higher, Reform UK councils have kept council tax, on average, lower than any other party. That’s the difference. When we make a promise, we keep it.
We know energy bills remain one of the biggest worries for families. They are higher in Britain than just about any other country. Families are asking what they have to give up to keep the lights on.
Reform UK will cut your energy bills. If we win the next general election, we’ll take VAT off your energy bills, and cut the extra taxes and levies that have been loaded onto them.
We will cut £200 off your energy bill immediately.
We’ll also drill our oil and gas in the North Sea. Labour and the Conservatives have been shutting down British drilling in the North Sea while paying Norway tens of billions for the gas they drill there. Reform UK will end this madness.
We will reverse Labour’s fuel duty increase, to cut prices at the pump. Petrol prices are surging. It says everything that Labour want to make them even higher.
Why has your cost of living spiralled?
Because Labour and the Conservatives haven’t put you first. Your taxes and bills have surged while your Government and council have wasted billions on illegal migrants, foreign aid, benefits, and political correctness.

On 7th May, there are council elections across your area. The Conservatives are now a distant third, or even fourth, in the polls. They failed the country and cannot win these elections. Only Reform UK can beat Keir Starmer’s Labour. If you want Starmer out, you have to vote Reform UK.
