Parish Councillors

Parish Councillors
We are just getting started, but we already have a foothold. Reform UK has one elected parish councillor in the Rother area, and dozens of parish councillors who were originally elected as independents, but are now proud members of Reform.

Why does this matter?
Parish Councils are the closest level of government to residents. They oversee village halls, allotments, play areas, community events, and green spaces. They meet locally, often in the parish or village hall, where residents can raise issues directly. These decisions may appear small, but they shape the daily life of our communities.

Parish councils are often described as “non-political.” However, the reality is that many parish councillors are already active members of political parties, particularly the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives. To suggest that party politics stops at the parish council chamber is misleading. The policies, priorities, and worldviews of these national parties inevitably shape how decisions are made at parish level. Residents deserve to know that, and they deserve a real alternative.

Why Reform UK Brings a Better Alternative
Reform UK believes parish councils should be about listening to local people first, not quietly importing the same failed politics of the main parties into village halls. We bring common sense, accountability, and transparency, values that are just as important in the smallest councils as they are in Westminster.

We believe parish councils should:

  • Focus on practical improvements that residents genuinely want.
  • Use budgets responsibly, avoiding waste, vanity projects, or political games.
  • Be open about councillors’ affiliations, so residents know who is really influencing decisions.
  • Put local people before party interests.

Our Plan – Building from the Ground Up
With one parish councillor already elected under the Reform banner, and many others now standing with us, we are building strength at the grassroots. We will continue to stand local, principled candidates whenever parish vacancies or by-elections arise.

Our goal is simple: to give communities councillors who are accountable, straightforward, and committed to bringing common sense Reform politics into the most local level of government.

If you believe in Reform, if you want your Parish Council to work for residents, not political insiders – then we want to hear from you. Find out more, and see Become a Reform UK Candidate.
