How to read this: each figure is the number of parish or town council meetings a councillor has attended, out of the number they were entitled to attend, added up since the day they were elected. It does not reset each year. Where one councillor’s Division includes a council shared with others (Bexhill-on-Sea Town Council), each councillor’s own attendance is recorded separately.

Most parish and town councils in Rother meet monthly, though a few (including Sedlescombe, Udimore and Icklesham) meet every other month, and almost all of them skip a meeting in August. That means “possible” varies from council to council and councillor to councillor, and a lower number of possible meetings is not itself a red flag.

Every meeting of the full council counts, including ordinary meetings, AGMs, additional or extraordinary meetings, and each council’s Annual Parish Meeting. The only meetings that aren’t counted here are sub-committee meetings (Planning, Finance, and so on), which are a different body to the council itself. Where an AGM and an ordinary meeting are held on the same date as a single combined meeting, that counts once, not twice.

The headline percentage and every leaderboard also include each councillor’s own attendance at East Sussex County Council, split into Full Council, Cabinet, Committees, and Other Meetings on their scorecard below. Only meetings that have already happened are counted; anything still scheduled is left out entirely rather than guessed at. Branch member meetings are the one exception, shown separately further down and never counted towards the percentage, since that’s a different kind of commitment to a councillor’s formal duties.

Each councillor also has one mandatory surgery duty, Bexhill Drop-in Surgery for the four Bexhill councillors, Ward Surgeries for the other three, which counts towards their percentage the same way council and ESCC attendance does, including missing one counting against them. The other surgery type isn’t mandatory for them, so it only appears on their scorecard if they’ve actually attended one, and when it does appear it only ever helps their percentage, since a meeting only gets logged there when they showed up, never when they didn’t.

Committee Meetings sit alongside Branch Meetings on each scorecard. Like Branch Meetings, they never count towards the percentage, but the two are combined for the Branch Meetings Leaderboard further down the page.

Nothing scheduled in the future is ever shown, anywhere on this page, only meetings that have already happened.

Data is prepared and published by the branch once a month and reflects the information available at that time.
